Minutes for August 4, 2009
Board of Sugar Creek Meeting

Board Members in attendance:
Wendy Feller, Doug Calisch, Jim Suren, Zach Cain, Paul Vasquez, Beth Swift

Member and guests in attendance:
Jim Hinks, Neal Robins, Warren Perkins

Discussion Items:

1. Montgomery County land use planning and zoning:
League of Women Voters will host a series of small town meetings, with representatives from local groups ( FSC, Farm groups, and others) to discuss the purpose of a county-wide ordinance. Representatives from FSC board will try to share the responsibilities of attending these meetings. Virginia Servies is organizing these meetings for the LWV.

2. Permits for a proposed Boone County CAFO project will be discussed at a future Boone County Commissioners meeting. Jim Suren will report, via email, to the board after that meeting. The board may want to draft a letter of caution or have some role, if this project is approved.

3. Fall Creek Clean-Up and membership pic-nic at Camp Tilitha was set for Saturday, October 3rd. Details will be discussed at the September meeting.

4. Discussion of the FSC membership fund raising efforts suggests that we have reached (or gotten very close to) our goal of 3,000.00.

5. A discussion of the need for more DVDs, tee-shirts, and membership sign-up cards was deferred until the treasurer can give the board an idea of where we stand. In addition, there were suggestions for additional bumper stickers, magnets and other give-away items. Deferred to the September meeting.

6. The Website needs to be updated.

7. Questions about our Montgomery County Grant and the Interpretive sign project were discussed. All Board members are excited for the signage to be completed and installed.

8. A new idea with a lot of interest from the board was a Sugar Creek exhibition at the Carnegie Museum in Spring 2010. There will be future conversation about this idea, as it is a large project.
