Creek Clean-Up To Be Held May 16

Friends of Sugar Creek (FSC) is sponsoring a spring creek clean-up on Saturday, May 16. This multi-county event represents a coordinated effort involving FSC, the City of Crawfordsville, and the Friends of Turkey Run & Shades. Volunteers from the general public are sought for clean-ups at two different sites.

Site 1:
FSC, along with Mayor Coons and the City of Crawfordsville, will meet at the Elston Softball Diamonds at 9 am and focus on the area contained within the Sugar Creek Nature Park. A hot dog lunch will be provided for volunteers at noon. FSC will provide gloves and trash bags. Nathan Mullendore, the watershed projects coordinator for FSC, is the lead organizer for this event.

Site 2:
A “satellite” clean-up will take place in Parke County. Volunteers will meet at 8:30 am at Turkey Run Canoe Rentals and complete their cleanup work by floating in canoes. Canoes will be provided by Turkey Run Canoe Rentals. Trash bags will be provided by Turkey Run State Park. Glenn Summers, a director from the Friends of Turkey Run & Shades, is the lead organizer for this event. Volunteers for this event are asked to contact Mr. Summers for planning purposes.
